On March 2nd 2013, National cup in Japanese combat sports, organized by the Serbian Budo Council (SBC), took place in the sports hall of Požarevac School of Economics. This was 7th memorial tournament in honor of late Slobodan Saric, one of the originators of Jiu-jitsu sport in Serbia. Tournament was attended by 125 athletes of all ages, from 10 towns and cities: Belgrade, Niš, Sabac, Vrsac, Pozarevac, Kostolac, Vlaški Do, Petrovac, Kraljevo, Čajetina, Pazova. Competitors were welcomed from Saric family and hosted with juices and sandwiches.
Matches showed good techniques and fine skills of most of the participants. Some have actually been brilliant, not surprising having in mind that they are already experienced competitors and medalists at numerous national and international championships.
This tournament has introduced new set of MIX KUMITE rules for adults, known in other countries as "chikara kurabe". Also, for the first time Sport kenjutsu was done in three rounds, each one with a different weapon. These two disciplines, MIX JUJUTSU KUMITE and MIX SPORT KENJUTSU shall remain the only disciplines on future SBC Shinbukan cups.
Great support in the efficient conduct of the competition came from referees in Sport kenjutsu, instructors Adriana and Marijana from Vrsac and instructors Ivan and Milos from Pozarevac. On Jiu-jitsu mats most of the referees were instructors from Pozarevac and Kostolac: Boban, Aca, Vlada, Iva. To all referees the organizer of the event, Shinbukan - Jiu Jitsu club Pozarevac, and the supreme referee of the tournament and SBC president, Dr. Ivica Zdravkovic, gives special thanks.
All winners have received diplomas and nice medals. Until the next 8th Memorial and SBC Shinbukan Serbian Cup in Požarevac 2014, see you on some other tournaments!
